Lim's Taichi was founded by the Late Grandmaster Akira Lim and is continued by his son
Stephen Lim and students.
The first original class taught by the Late Grandmaster Akira Lim, was at a Scout Hut in Chessington, next to Buckland Infant School (now Castle Hill School) and also at a hall next to Hook Library. It was then spread out through Surrey County Council by Grandmaster Akira Lim and students, through Weybridge, Cobham, Esher and Dorking.
It has also been taught at Health Centers in Richmond, YMCA and David Lloyds and other places around Epsom, New Malden and Guildford. Through it's involvement within the Chinese community, it has also been taught at the London South West Chinese Community Association in Wimbledon and Mitcham.
WHAT IS TAICHI ?
Today, Tai Chi has spread worldwide and some of its training forms are familiar to Westerners as the slow motion routines that groups of people practice together every morning in parks around the world, particularly in China.
Lim's Taichi is predominantly influenced by Yang Taichi. The first main form taught is the Yang 108 Long Form, which can take up to 2 years to learn!
The main emphasis in the class is to work on quality of movement, be patient, relaxed and to let go of everything and only be concentrated on the now in the taichi class.
Some of the other forms taught within the class include the 24, 42 and 48 fist forms. Chen and Liu He Taichi, 32 and 42 straight sword, Broadsword etc.
We also practice taichi qigong within the class.
Taught in a friendly environment, you are encouraged to learn taichi at your own pace and for your own benefit and also importantly to enjoy yourself in the process.
